I am unoffically separated which means still legally married and needs to declare that in my application. In the application process, do I need necessary documents from my spouse? Like proof of educational degree? Maybe IELTS results? Can I just apply for my son and I?

If you are planning to get a divorce, then I would get a notarized letter stating that you and your husband are separated and plan to file for divorce, therefore you wish to exclude him from you application.

If you even remotely THINK that you might work things out, then yes, get ALL of his documentation and information and include it in the application, including PCC and meds for him. Then even if he doesn't travel with you immediately (you can list him as non accompanying) you will have the option of sponsoring him later if you reconcile.
