Hi,

I have an acceptance from a Canadian university, and will be returning home to the UK to apply for my student visa in a couple of weeks. I am currently in Canada on a tourist visa, which expired 3 months ago. I overstayed because I was waiting for a LMO for a work visa which was VERY late, and eventually denied (due to 'insufficient information' with the place of work) and was told it was so late due to immigration offices being on strike. I am now aware I should have applied for my tourist extension visa, but was not aware at the time, and was hopeful the LMO would come back positive. I have had a common-law Canadian partner for 2 years, and plan to apply for PR once I have settled into my studies. Will a student visa be denied because of my overstay?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!
