Can I apply for open work permit

Hi,

I am in Canada from past 2 years on closed work permit. I still have the work permit valid for another year but my employer is asking me to go back to offshore. As I don't want to go back. I am in the process of applying for PR and collecting the required documents and doing the CELPIP. Meanwhile before I get my PR status, I want to know if I am eligible to apply for open work permit staying inside Canada? I heard that I cannot apply for it . But, I have a baby who has born in Canada last year , so is it possible to get the open work permit on this basis?

No. Having a baby in Canada does not qualify you for an open work permit.

I don't know how true the below claim is, but definitely can give a try when all options are shut, good luck bro and if it succeeds please do let us know too. In the same boat but still but TFWP valid till July 2017.
