Hi,

I am applying for Immigration under CEC and I am currently in Canada on a Work Permit. I would like to apply for just myself and not my wife, can this be done or will it cause any problems? The IMM0008 form talks about reasons for the spouse not accompanying and my reason is that me and my wife might get a divorce soon(which is not a 100% confirmed thing yet). Incase we get divorced after I file my application I will let the Immigration council know about my change in marital status. Please advice on whether this is a right approach.

Thanks.

If you're married at the time you apply, you have to include your spouse in the application.
And yes, you have to mention your spouse on the IMM0008 form and check that your spouse will not accompany you
to Canada and give the reason. If there's not enough space on the form, attach a separate sheet and elaborate.

Thank you all for the prompt replies. I would like to mention the exact reason that I would be getting a divorce soon and that is the reason my wife will not be accompanying me.I will also mention that i will let the Immigration council know as soon as there is a change in my Marital status, I hope this would not affect my application in anyway going further.

Thanks.

No, it will not affect your application - if you do it that way, you'll be fine. The simple rule is
to be straight with CIC :)
