Hello everyone,

I am currently in Canada on a closed work permit, working as a front desk agent. I understand that Front Desk Agent is not a high skilled occupation. My question is can I apply for FSW or FSTP for my previous occupation back in my home country? I have more than 3 years of work experience in a call centre as a technical support representative / user support technician. Is it considered a skilled job? Is it included in the skilled category for FSW or FSTP? and lastly, do I need to show proof of funds and job offer for that occupation?

I need your help senior members. Any inputs? TIA.

User support technicians are NOC 2282 which is at the B level (skilled). Description: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/Profile.aspx?val=2&val1=2282

Call centre agent is NOC 1453 which is at the C level (not skilled). Description: http://www30.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=1453

The determination of your NOC depends on where the majority of your job duties falls.

You could email ESDC's NOC unit, describe your job duties and ask them to suggest the most likely NOC: noc-cnp @ workingincanada.gc.ca

But NOC 2282 isn't on the eligible occupations list for FSWP or FSTP. You would need a job offer to apply under FSWP's arranged employment stream (which would require an LMIA) and you will need to show proof of funds.

FSTP is not an option unless you have experience in one of the identified skilled trades, job offer or not.

You could explore your province's PNP immigration stream to see if you might be eligible that way.

Hope this helps.
