Can I apply for CEC before completion of 2yrs work exp in Canada

Hello

I am on a workpermit and working in Canada for the past 18 months (NOC 2171). I have another 6 months of contract on hand.

Now do I have to wait and complete these 6 months before applying for CEC or can I go ahead and apply now with the 18 months completed work experience + the 6 months contract on hand ?

You have to work two full years then start to apply for CEC; otherwise, it will result in refusal.

You do not meet the minimum work experience requirement if:

* you gained your work experience without the proper status (for example, as an undocumented worker)
* your work experience in Canada is not classified as 0, A or B under the NOC list
* you do not have at least two years of work experience as a temporary foreign worker.

You have to complete the experience requirement (2 years) BEFORE you submit your application.

You don't say whether or not you will try to extend your contract & work permit, but after you meet the minimum qualifications for CEC, you can apply, even if you leave Canada. There is a time limit, tho, your work experience has to be within 3 years of the application date.
