Can I apply for a WP in parallel after submitting my voluntary renouncement application?

I have an old PR that where I was not able to meet RO due to my parent's need for care.

I now plan to apply for a WP but I understand that I need to renounce my PR first. Once I submit my renunciation application, can I apply for the WP after a few days instead of waiting for any confirmation of the renunciation?
