Can I apply for a visitor visa inside of Canada while my current visa is a visitor visa?

It’s for my parents. They are currently in Canada with a Visitor Record, their visitor visa has expired. Can they apply for a new visitor visa inside Canada? It seems doesn’t allow me to do so. TIA

You should have applied for visitor record extension before the visitor record expired. Apply to restore status now.

You cannot apply for visa from within Canada.

Thanks. They got their visitor record until August 2022, I already applied in Feb to extend. Currently the visitor visa's processing time in China is more than 500 days, they're afraid they cannot come back soon if they leave Canada.
