Can I apply extension of childs visitor permit online seperately?

Hi all,

Is it possible to just apply for extension of vistor permit for my child online? My spouse and I have a valid worker status until end of 2014, but my childs vistor permit is expiring next month on 10th. Can I apply online just to extend my daughters visitor permit online or do i have to complete a paper application and send to Vegreville case processing center by mail? It unclear to me how do i generate personalcode checklist for my daughter if I were to apply online. Pls suggest.

Yes, you may apply online to extend your daughter's visitor permit (I did that for my son). You can apply online through your own "MyCIC" account (create one if you do not have it) if your daughter is 15 or younger. You complete the forms with her information on her behalf and then sign as well. There also will be a list of supporting doc's you'll have to attach as PDF's. Pretty straight forward.

In addition to the scan of my work permit I added a cover letter, in an optinal additional documents section, explaining that this application was in regards to my child's visitor record extension and request was based on my new work permit.

Thanks Vik1112.... I am in a bit tricky situation...I have my original WP until end of Feb and have a new WP with new employer until end of 2014... new employer is not offering job anymore... PR is in process so ideally would like to stay here....we have valid status to stay in Canada but my daughters permit is expiring next mid month (to validity date of her old passport)... what docs should I include and pls suggest if I should explain anything about my situation or just say this is for my daughter and I am applying to extend her based on my status in canada?

one more Q Vik1112 - while creating personal checklist there are couple questions - 1. Are you giving someone access to you application - should I say Yes, grant authorization for CIC to release your application information to another person ? I am opting to choose this option then the next Q is - Did your representative give you a submission letter? I said No to this as it is me her father and not a paid representative. Is that what you did?

CIC will make a decision based on the documents you provide, so I don't think there's a need to go about your story in details. Assuming your daughter's passport has been renewed you will request her status extension based on your current status in Canada and for whatever its validity is. From my understanding, unless your new employer, who's not willing to hire you any longer, cancels your work permit with CIC, it remains valid and you may stay in Canada till the end of 2014, but not work anywhere else. If you'd like to work you'll have to find another employer willing to apply for LMO and once received you'd apply for a new work permit. You may want to see a consultant for a proffessional look at your situation and the best way to go about it.
Also keep in mind, when you file the application you will have to provide an evidence of funds available to support your daughter in Canada. In my case I submitted a reference letter from my current employer stating my annual salary. If you're unemployed at the moment of application you may submitt your bank statement showing sufficient funds available for the duration of the permit extension requested.
