Can I apply and obtain a job while I'm waiting for my PR card?

From experience, how long does it take for a Permanent Residency card to arrive by post? I have heard that it takes six weeks to arrive, can it take longer?

More importantly, can I obtain a job before it comes by presenting a photocopy or letter of some sort?

New PR card processing time is 63 calendar days at the moment.

You don't need your PR card to get a job. You do need to get your SIN first.

No - they will just want to see your SIN.

Yes SIN is necessary.

Employers need only SIN number.
When I got the job, they just asked me to fill in a form with SIN and bank account details for depositing the salary.

If somepne still wants to see the proof of landing, you can always show landing papers...
