Can extended visitor leave Canada for vacation and come back again

Hi all,
My dad came to Canada visit me on April 11 2015 and we submitted visitor extension online in Sept 2015.
In early Feb 2016, we received medical examination form and submitted the result.
Recently, CIC granted my dad's extension until July 02,2016. Meanwhile my mom just came to Canada as a visitor.

They would like to go to Cuba for vacation about 8 days. Can they come back as a visitor?
When my dad come back, must he leave Canada before July 02 2016, or he will have another 6 month stay?
I am about to book my dad flight back to home town however I am confused if he can stay after July 02.

If they have a multiple entry visa, they can come back before their visa expires. If it's a single entry visa, if they go to cuba from Canada, they cannot re-enter. If they extended his visa until July 2, that means he has to leave by then, as far as I know.
