Can citizenship e-certificates be issued for old "paper only" certificates' holders?

Hello,

It looks like nowadays people get e-certificates and use it to apply for Canadian passports, which is way easier to keep and locate when needed.

My question is, for those who got their citizenship before the e-certificate time, and have the paper certificate only, can they apply for the e-certificate to use it to apply\renew Canadian passports?

I dont know where you checking but there is no mention of it anywhere - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-passports/renew-adult-passport/required-documents-photos.html
Unless I guess you renewing it after a decade of expiry.
