Can a work permit be bridged more than once while PR application is in process?

In the event the processing of permanent residence exceeds normal processing times, can an applicant remain bridging their work permit while waiting for a decision to be made?

Anyone has done this or know of anyone who bridged their work permit more than once while waiting for a decision to be rendered.
