Hi Guys,

I received PR and have been nominated by NS province. I would be moving to Canada soon and I seek advise from anyone who knows if I can work from NS for any US company. If I am hired as an employee for any US company can I live in NS and work remotely for this company. Or would it be better to work as an independent consultant for the US firm while living in NS.

Any advise is much appreciated.

Thanks

You can work remotely, better work as contractor rather than employee. For tax consideration this will be simplest. If they want to keep you as employee then better have a Canadian payroll run for you, which companies may not do for just one employee.

How does working as a contractor make things easier for tax purposes? Can you expand on this?

Hi, were you able to continue working from home in NS?
