Can a person on visitor permit stays more than 6M while waiting for work permit

Hi everyone,

I am students here in Canada on Study permit. My wife applied for visitor visa from our home country. She came here five months ago. Because my study permit was expiring on mid Oct, I applied for extension of my study permit and at the same time add her as spouse for open work permit visa. It has been more than four months and we have not heard anything from them

The issue is that I can stay and continue my study showing that I have applied for renewing my study permit. However my wife's visitor permit will end in two weeks time. Can she use the same reasoning and stay until approval or rejection for work permit? Or she has to leave Canada at the end of six months?? PLEASE HELP US!

have u guys applied together for study permit extension and Open work permit for your wife.

If yes during the processing the time your status is implied she can't stay here until the decision made.

Please Share your timeline when did u applied after that did u contact them .

have u applied by your own or you have hired the lawyer.
