Can a person get Canada study visa with this profile?

Okay, so I've a friend who completed his 12th in 2010 and has been working since then in an IT company as a programmer. He didn't do any bachelor's in IT nor did he went to any college.
Now, can he apply for a diploma for under-graduate studies after a gap of 8 years? He can show all the documents related to his job but I'm not sure if he can apply for any course in Canada or whether he'll get the Visa.
Anyone who has any knowledge in this field please help me out. I'll really appreciate it.

Apply for a programming diploma program. Then mention in SOP that you want to have a formal education, since you don’t have one, to progress your career to more senior position. I took up aviation but my work experience for the past 22 years are all in IT. I got my SP application approved for a diploma program, which will transfer to a bachelors degree.
