OK I am an Irishman who landed in Edmonton,Alberta in Aug 2013 on a 2 year Working Holiday Visa.
I started work as a Sheet Metal Apprentice/Labourer the same month, can I start my trade here if I get permission from CIC or Alberta Apprenticeship board as I have now been doing the work for 6 months?

I know I can study upto 6 months from CIC but when I rang apprenticeship board they told me I cant unless I am a resident but the final decision would be down to Immigration? ANY HELP ANYBODY??

THANKS

Believe you are going to be out of luck. An Apprentice must either be a PR or Citizen.

From Alberta

Who Can Learn a Trade?
You can earn while you learn if you meet the eligibility requirements for your Alberta designated trade of choice and you are:
learn-feature1a

a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, and
employed by an employer eligible to participate in the apprenticeship program
