Can a Judge call my ex-landlords?

Dear All,

Situation:
Rented one apartment for 2 years and another one for 2 years.
Applied for citizendship. Moved abroad. Got RQ.
Problem: Paid my rent with cheques. Have no receipts from landlords, just two rental agreements.
Landlords do not respond to my e-mails.
Question:
can a Citizienship Judge call my ex-landlords?
They could easily confirm that I lived at ther place for the periods I mentioned in my application.
Do only PAPERS count? What about a Canadian landlord's word?

Are you in Canada or abroad now? As far as my knowledge, rental agreement should be good enough for RQ. So far, I haven't heard anything about calling the landlord. Besides, where will the Judge get your ex-landlord's phone number?

Do you think the best way is to get a PAPER receipt from a landlord confirming 4 years of rental payments?

(Gee, one still can be a trickster by staying abroad for all those years before application and by sending all payment cheques from abroad... )

Why would they believe a number provided by you and not believe the receipts you provide???ahhhh thats why RQ is issues then a applicant has all the time in the world to prove his/her residency

Do you have online banking? If so, you can go online and print copies of all the cheques he cashed. Otherwise, you can ask your bank to do it for you - there may be a charge.

1. Burden of proof is on the applicant so you have to give the judge/ include in the RQ the required documents. As has been pointed out Judge won't call anyone - even if they could it could be your buddy at the end of the line.

2. Match up rent cheques as obtained from the bank with the lease documents - it should show a fixed amount debited at regular (monthly) intervals for the lease duration from a bank statement ideally (for the sake of your application) showing the same address as the lease.

If okay to say do you know/ suspect why you got RQd? What's your timeline?

My brother's RQ Judge ask for Month by Month proof of rental payment,Tenant ledger or payment history or bank statement with lease agreement.
