Hi everyone,

A friend of mine came to Canada as a refugee 12 years ago. He is a citizen but doesn't have passport. What he has looks very similar to Canadian passport but is blue passport-like document called "Travel Document". I was wondering if I can use him as my guarantor? In the forms, it asks for Canadian passport number in one of the fields!

Thanks for any help!

As in the guidelines, your guarantor must have a 5 or 10 year Canadian passport.

I'd also note - not an expert - but it's almost certain that travel document (issued before he became a citizen) is no longer valid and cannot be used.
