Can a Canadian Company Charge me for Orientation and Training

I am a German Citizen I came to Canada to find employment in the transportation Trucking industry. I was offered a driving job by a trucking company. They offered me the job and now they are telling me that I must pay a fee to take their training and their orientation? Do they have a right to charge me to become a employee of this Canadian company?? Please can some one let me know if they legally can do this. please contact me at annmar@telusplanet.net

It's unethical, and depending on the province you're working in, also illegal. If the job is starting off on a note like this, it can only go downhill from here. Sorry to say this looks like an employer to stay away from.
