Hi,
I have queries regarding visiting visa to Canada.
I am 26 years old. I am here i Canada as a visitor visa to see my sister. They issued 6 months visa.
Can I extend visitor visa for another 6 months.
Can I apply for visitor visa to USA to see my relatives from Canada?
Please I am waiting for your response.
Thank you!!!
A visitor visa or TRV cannot be extended. Yes if you want to extend your
stay in canada you can do that by making a paper or online application (application to Extend Your Stay in Canada as a Visitor).
for your understanding the visit visa (TRV) or the sticker attached in your passport is just an authorization which had allowed you to travel towards canada and allow you to seek entry into canada. if the TRV (visitor visa) is multiple then you can travel towards canada and seek entry multiple times AND if it is a single entry TRV (visit visa) then you can only travel towards canada once and seek entry only once.
Now once you are in canada the stamp afixed by immigration officer in your passport is your status i.e
visitor status.(note: you get a visitor status once you enter into canada on a trv) now at the end of your stay if you want to stay more in canada (i.e more than 6 months) you can apply for an extension and on approval you will not get a new sticker or visa on your passport rather just a document (visitor record) mailed to you which will mention your allowed or extended period and it will be only valid for the current trip or current stay. once you leave canada your visitor status or the visitor record document will automatically expire (no matter even if you lived less than the allowed time). So you can keep on living in canada for another 6 months if your extension is approved for the next 6 months.
Can I apply for visitor visa to USA to see my relatives from Canada?
yes you can but if you leave canada you must have a valid visa (TRV) to re-enter into canada again and you will be accessed again as a visitor by CBSA.
I hope it helps
