I don't know which calling card is good for India but people I know who use them say that they usually promise a lot more time than they give. I am in Edmonton, have my landline with Telus but my long distance service with http://www.telehop.com/residential/longdistance.php You can look at their rates and see if you like them. I have been using them for a couple of years and have not had any problems. If you have long distance service with Telus, their rates are not the best. I don't know about Rogers. The telephone market is a jungle. You have to look at your estimated usage and try to find a plan that works for you.

Here is this company called callture and their address is http://www.callture.com/
I have this service where your parent has to call you to talk to you instead you call them. They will dial a local number in their country and it will be connected over VoIP to you in Canada. This company is located in Canada and you can pay via paypal and it is legal.

They provide this service in Canada for $14.95 but I am not sure if India is there or not. Your family can talk to you as long as they want with 30 minutes sessions each time and then they have to dial again. It is totally free when they call from there for them and for you, there are no hidden fee.

You need to ask them if India is on their list but it may help others.

Thanks,
