I've seen a lot of people use calling cards to save $$ in making their calls.... but with one main issue being that they now have no record of their calling activities...

while there are many different ways around it, most involving broadband calling options, some people are old fashion and/or prefer direct dial phone communication :) or simply need to because of the lack of technology at one end...

i've used PINGO (www.pingo.com) in the past and they do give a printable call log associated with your account.. the prices are okay (not the best, but far from the worst, money can be saved) and the quality, from my experience, has been great... customer service has been really good too!

the call lots aren't the most professional looking in nature, but they do give an excel spreadsheet (and if need be login info for the calling card can be provided to verify that the information was indeed downloaded from their site directly)...

a nice feature about pingo is that others can use it if you share the dialin PIN... you can recharge online by credit card or paypal... and they offer the odd perk (especially if you are signing up new people...)

i'm not in this to get the perks, i haven't used it in a couple years, but i thought i'd throw it out there for anyone who might benefit from it... i do remember that they had a perk that was related to a load of $50.. it never worked, i tried it 3 times with no success.. but each time i complained to the customer service that their incentive wasn't working, they'd credit me back my $50 :) not sure if they still have an option to get $xx free with a $50 load, but it might be worth trying ;)

good luck

Hey I hope this info is helpful to others who havent finished putting their documents together.

Just doing my bit. My husband used calling cards from Raza.com, which are specifically for India and Pakistan and other countries of the sub-continent & Middle East. They gave him a very nice call log which clearly gave his number, my number in India & Saudi Arabia (when I travelled), along with the dates and duration. I found it more helpful than his other phone bills from Rogers.

Cheers :)

I used something like that to call my husband when I was in the US. Card called PennyTalk. It was something like 1 or 2 cents to call to Canada and you could top it up and print call logs. Logs didn't look very professional either but shows the number you are calling to, the date and duration. I am happy we have that now cos its nearly the only proof of our communication from that time besides emails. Might be useful to someone who is in the US and likes calling each other for a quick hello when they are not at the computer.

V-O do not accept calling cards anymore because anyone could just pick them up anywhere and it still isnt a convincing proof.I subscribed to a company where they issued me a code number that i dial right from my residential number,at the end of every month i get all receipt with all the call details on it.If you are to do so,dont be cheap, these receipts and the amount of time you call as well as the money you spend could be an important point regarding the interview, trust me its all worth it,and if you are to mssg your your spouse via cellphone its even better..

There are a lot of prepaid services available if you purchase these cards online these days. They all now provide detailed call logs and I have used alot of them including:

G3telecom.com
Comwave.net
SimpleCall.com
Raza.com
Ring123.com

and there are many many more which now gives you detailed call logs, and they all accept credit cards and/or paypal. I have used all of the above services because I have been making international calls to my wife since 2003 :)
