Hi Folks,

I have just got the call from CIC. Received number is 1-888-242-2100. Actually, I was driving that time, so told them to call back me in 30 minutes.

Waiting for their call.

Not sure why, but I also got call from the same number couple of times & I missed both of them. The latest one was today just an hour ago & they left a blank VM. Also the weird thing is I have never provided my new number to CIC :o

So they are processing April applicants as well then in that case.. Good luck guys...

Is it good to share the information on call? because I have goggled and that number is from CIC.

Yes this number is from CIC .
You will come to know, If it is CIC they will never ask you for Money (Which in fake call they ask )
and VO will provide you his/her ID # etc
Good Luck

I would suggest below,
First listen to them as why are they calling & get their all information & ask if they have your correct application details before providing your details.
Even if they have your application details, understand what they are asking or calling you for.

If it is not related to any money transfer or related suspicious things, you can ask them to send an email say that you'll respond accordingly.
You can ask for little time & in that time call back to this number & verify if they were really trying to reach you.

For me, I have already landed around 6 months back..so I don't think there's any reason to call me..
In my case it ca be a wrong call intended to other recepient as I have never shared my new number with CIC..

Again this is my personal opinion.. you can respond as per your discussion with them on call and little verification of data..

All the best for your applicaiton..!

Be careful with this call!
As per other threads, there are fake calls pretending to be their from CIC.

Be cautious about giving out your private info when they call u.

One of my friend's got a call after work hours and they were asked for the passport no,dob, client id, aor etc which they did. The person who called them, asked for my friend to be home on a Fri evening to visit at home. But they didnt ask for money, so my friends called CIC to verify if it is genuine, it turned out to be its not CIC. Not sure why they asked for info, looks like an identity theft to me....

It is indeed identity theft.

1-888-242-2100 is CIC call center no., and it is located in Montreal, Quebec. CPC-Ottawa is located in Ottawa. Now if VO has an query then why would he use 1-888- 242-2100 no. Doesn't make any sense to me. One more thing whenever VO calls from CPC-Ottawa, caller id display's private no.

Number that you see is an outgoing Caller ID as defined by the source. It could very well be from Russia or Zimbabwe.

Be careful what information you provide and what they are asking for. As another caller mentioned, if they ask for money in any form or shape it is a HUGE red flag.

Hi

There are many documented posts in this forum in relation to calls supposedly from CIC.

These calls usually request a payment of some sort, they often have personal information and details of your application which make the call seem genuine. At some point in the call they often transfer you to someone else to take the payment. As I say the trend of the call is pretty much the same. CIC do not request payment for anything over the phone.

In almost all cases these calls are fake; these are people who a preying on our desperation to become Canadian PR’s. Please do not be fooled by this.

If CIC needed to speak with you and you missed a call they would have left a voicemail, they would also use written correspondence as well.

In the event of a call please try and establish clearly who you are speaking with, get a name, their officer number and a return telephone number. Do this before you give them any personal data or verify any data they have on file!!. Ensure you establish exactly why they are calling.

Make an excuse that you can’t talk and you will call them back soon. If they try and say they will call you back, make an excuse and say that it is not convenient and insist you call them back.

Then go to the CIC site obtain a genuine number and contact CIC directly.

Please check out the forum, there are many instances of this.

Thx
