Good evening fellow forum members,

I have two questions:

--This morning I spent some time with the NOC code I am applying under and found that I have 22 months of full time work experience in it.
I am curious if CIC will interpret this as 2 years or 1 year?

--I also have 1 year additional experience in a similar NOC code and was curious to know if that can be used (Its NOC 0 as well)

thank you kindly,

Hi, is the 22 months in Canada or overseas? The Residency process in Canada has 2 Steps:

Express Entry (EE): for the purposes of Express Entry, the system calculates 'years of Work Experience' on a monthly basis. Say for example you started working on 31 January, you get credit for working the entire month. The problem may come if you are invited to apply and you get a CIC officer who adds up the actual days that you have worked and determines that it it less than 730 days (2 years). If this happens then you could get a ban of 5 years (if they suspect you misrepresented yourself).

Assuming you pass the EE stage, if you work experience is in Canada, then (depending upon your language results) you may be eligible to satisfy the requirements of the 'Canadian Experience Class' program.

If your work experience is foreign (again depending on your language results, and other tests in the 'Federal skilled Worker Program') you may be able to satisfy the requirements for this program.

Hope this helps.

Hi JoacRy!

The Work Exprience is all in Canada but more than 3 years ago. I have the highest bands in all 4 tests for IELTS i.e. I have an 8.5 total score.

Well, I worked for 11 months in one NOC in 2010 and then for 22 months from 2011 onward until 2013. Both are NOC 0. But Its over 3 years ago.

I'm happy to say I worked a certain number of days and make the month wise calculation accordingly.
