Pre-Assessed..
Hi there everyone.

I have a doubt about how may I calculate my experience time.

I have graduated as a Civil Engineer last July.

My working experience is:

From Oct.2012 to Dec.2014, while I was in studying, I worked as a Civil Engineering Intern (20hrs/week) - 02 years and 02 months.

From Jan.2015 to July.2015, while I was concluding my studies, I worked as a Construction Assistant (Full-time position - 44hrs/week) - 07 months

From Aug.2015 til now - I am working as a Civil Engineer (Full-time position, 44hrs/week) - 07 months.

All the time I worked for the same company.

And also I am a company partner (if that is how it is said. "one of the owners") in a construction company since 2010, and since last month I am signing for this company as a Civil Engineer.

My questions are:
Will the time that I have as an Intern count?
Can I count something for being a company partner?
As I am signing for this second company as a Civil Engineer, does that count as skilled work experience?

Thanks!

As far as I know, working as an intern does not count. You need to have at least 30 hours per week job, that is paid. Also, I'm not sure that being a partner will mean something to your experience.

Well, the CIC website says that part time jobs counts.
What I need to know is if my intern time will count as part time job, because I was studying at the time.
Thanks

Dear smlrch,

any internships does not get calculated in work experience as they are unpaid and they are done to get your degree.

A: Do not count if they are unpaid, whether intern, full-time or part-time.
From Jan.2015 to July.2015, while I was concluding my studies, I worked as a Construction Assistant (Full-time position - 44hrs/week) - 07 months
A: What do you mean 'was concluding my studies' for 7 months either you were studying or not studying and you were intern or full time respectively. As mentioned above if unpaid does not count.
From Aug.2015 til now - I am working as a Civil Engineer (Full-time position, 44hrs/week) - 07 months.
A: If paid and full-time you can count this.
All the time I worked for the same company.

There is no less or more CRS points for being a partner/signatory/owner etc...

Thanks CanadaWeCome.. All the jobs I had, part time or full time, were always paid, and I still have some paying slips from when I started working. So that counts, doesn't it?

By the other company.. What I meant is that now Im also working there as a Civil Enigneer.. So would like to know if its possible to count a full time job and a part time job at the same time. So I can count 50 hrs per week (30 from full time job and 20 for the part time job)

No the CIC system does not count beyond 30 hrs for full time jobs. For part time 15 hrs per week, even if you worked 20 hrs.
Also for study period you cannot count even part-time.

Now I'm confused.
While I was studying, I was working as an intern for 20 hrs/week and that was paid (have paying slips). Does that count or not?

My degree course only asks for 6 months internship to conclude the course, but I worked as an intern for 2 years and 2 months.

As far as I know , CIC won't count any hours over 30 hrs/week on full time jobs, but when it comes to part time, it will count the amount of hours you worked. If it was 20 hrs / week it it will count as 20 hrs/week.
Did I get this wrong?

Inside Canada, No. Outside Canada, Yes.
