Calculate part-time hours based on bi-weekly paystubs

Hi all! I am preparing for the EE/CEC application and confused about the work hours calculation. My question is:

Usually I work full-time (37.5 hrs/week) but sometimes I work less than 30 hours a week (ask-off or company down time).

For instance, if one of my pay stubs shows I work 50 hrs/fortnight. How do CIC calculate my weekly hours?
If 25 + 25 or 30 + 20 I got 50 effective hours.
If 37.5 + 12.5 I got 42.5 effective hours.

Even more, if I work 70 hours/fortnight:
30 + 40 or 35 + 35 I got 60 hours.
If 50 + 20 I got 50 hours.

So, if your paystubs are biweekly, you should just split the hours in each by 2.

Logically, it wouldn't make sense to split a 70h paystubs as 50+20 instead of 35+35. Unless the actual amount of hours you work per week (for example your paystub is broken down by weeks or daily) is stated you shouldn't go that far.

However, in the letter of experience your employer will issue for you, you should ask them to clearly state the range of hours per week you have worked. For instance: between 20-40 hours per week. --> I would look for the paystub with the least hours and the one with the most hours worked per fortnight and the divide those by 2 and use those 2 values for the ranges.

Such as Paystub1=30 hours, Paystub2=70 hours --> Weekly range between 15 and 35 hours.

Doing this should be more than enough and since most people are paid on a biweekly basis I highly doubt they would not be satisfied with this.

Thank you Wolfy. Actually only 2 or 3 weeks for part-time out of my 52-week period. I don't think my difficult employer will mark this on the letter. On my contract showing me working around 37.5 hrs/week and I will provide all my paystubs merged into one PDF to CIC

Then you are fine! no need to worry about anything!

My letter stated exactly that, 37.5h per week and I submitted all my paystubs, all biweekly.

I was just informed today my application was successful and my PR is approved.
