Hi all,

I had a very frustrating conversation with the CIC call centre yesterday. They keep reminding you when you're on hold that they do not tolerate aggressive behaviour, however, I felt all the aggression coming from the other end of the line.

Either way, I asked what the status of my application was and she said its in process. I understand its in process, its been saying that online since January 2012.

I said that now since its been over 8 months, can we contact the CIC in Edmonton for more information. She said no she can't do that.

I also asked what more information would I get from requesting CAIPS/GMCS notes other than it's in process. Should did not know.

So on to my questions and thanks for reading up to this point: What more information do you get from the CAIPS/GMCS notes? Is it a worthwhile endeavour?

Thanks,
Jay

hi jaycrew,

if you order caips at this stage:

you might get to see on which date your file was started processing

you might get to see whether your application is in background check or not

and if you are lucky you might get to see on which date your file will be transfered to the local office.

other than this you wont get much info at process stage ... :-X

I think you will also have a note if you are put in a queue for test ...
Why don't you order one. I have just ordered mine. It is free and very easy to fill it out, you can mail, fax or e-mail it back.

I have a feeling the agent was too lazy to help you in any way. If it takes more than 8 months from the date of transfer for the local office to schedule a test, CIC Sydney can and should send a message to the local office.

I expect to receive my GCMS notes in about 30 days. I will let you know what information I can find in the notes. :)

CAIPS is for applications being processed outside of Canada (for example: PR applications).
FOSS is for applications being processed IN CANADA (for example: citizenship applications).

1. Actually CAIPS was the predecessor for GCMS for applications processed overseas.
2. FOSS was for applications processed in Canada and is presently being converted to GCMS
3. Citizenship was never processed in FOSS, it had a separate processing system and has now been processed under GCMS.

My GMCS report(s) had been very useful. They even informed me the name of the Winnipeg judge who approved my case in Edmonton weeks before scheduling my ceremony.
