CAIPS/GCMS/FOSS- Any Difference?

Hi Everyone,

I had applied for CAIPS/GCMS (or so I thought) through a relative 30 days back, and got my 2 page FOSS client summary notes today.

Even though my ecas states that I have been "in process" from March 9th,2012 - There are absolutely no entries of any kind, after my 2nd AOR in my notes.

My question is-

1.Is FOSS summary the same as GCMS/CAIPS (All i got was a 2 page report, whereas I remember reading that others have got 32 pages reports). While filling my "Access to Information form IMM5563- In section B, I had selected Electronic Files and again selected Immigration File in Canada- Permanent Residence.
I had not selected "status of an application".
Is this why my report is not very detailed? or is it just that verification is yet to commence in my case?

1. FOSS is for old applications processed in Canada.
2. If you are applying to an overseas office, you want CAIPS/GCMS

Thank you for your prompt response. From your explanation, I can now infer that the reason why no Visa Office activity is mentioned, is because I had requested for FOSS instead of CAIPS/GCMS. (Even though I was trying to order only CAIPS/GCMS).

Could you be kind enough to check this link and let me know the options that I need to select in Section B of FORM IMM5563, to ensure that I get my CAIPS/GCMS instead of FOSS?

Apply for caips/gcms notes immediately because right after the in process you may be able to see lot of development in your file.

I will ask my counsultant to order for caips/gcms note. By the way have you ordered for the same and what was the result?

Apply for caips/gcms notes immediately because right after the in process you may be able to see lot of development in your file.

Thank you again for your reply. Those were not the options that I had ticked earlier (That's why I had received FOSS instead of GCMS).
I will apply for GCMS ticking the options you had indicated. Really appreciate this..

I had a question if u can help me out

Is CAIPS File same to what I will receive via ATI ?

The CAIPS notes are those which are written on file so will I get the same via ATI request? CAIPS is done by private offices whereas ATI is governemnt?


I am a bit confused cause regarding CAIPS and ATI if they are same or not. Please let me know asap if you can .Thnx.
