Buying an Old Car - Alberta

Guys... I just bought an old car, got "bill of sale" and insured it under my name. However, the car is still registered under old owner's name (who is a friend of mine).

The question is... in Calgary, can I drive that car for a certain period of time having bill of sale and insurance under my name (without having it registered yet)?

You best register it else you will have some explaining as a minimum and hefty fines if you are pulled over by the police or by bad luck have an accident! Check if not registering the vehicle invalidates your insurance. Why exactly are you not registering the vehicle....your friend may not be best pleased too if they receive any violation tickets due to you (speeding, parking, running a red light)!

Totally second that moreover if the car is 10 to 12 years old it will need to be inspected for insurance purposes I know that because I had to go throught the same a month ago
