I'm just writing to give a bit of encouragement to those of you whose files are sitting in Buffalo. I submitted my documents to them in mid-January, got my AOR in early March, had my file transferred to Seattle in late April, and just received my medical request.

Time between document submission and medical request: 5 months

There are some things that might make my file move a bit faster:

- I have a B.A. from Canada and lived there for 4 years
- I'm American, so they don't need to verify language ability
- perhaps, I don't know, they can verify American work experience faster than in other countries
- my wife is a registered nurse
- we're using a lawyer, I assume that they submitted an attractive and organized file, unlike the messy, ugly file I would have submitted on my own

But there are other things that could have slowed down my file:

- I've lived in many countries, and am currently abroad
- my wife is foreign
- I was refused entry to Belgium once
- we added a baby to our file mid-way through

Anyway -- this is just a post for those of you who are waiting. It doesn't have to be a long time. Good luck!

Yes, I think the frustration with Buffalo's pace is primarily among Indian applicants who see New Delhi zipping away.
The comparison was agonizing and interestingly there is now a thread that New Delhi is "slowing down".
Of course again this is relative.

My personal experience with Buffalo is also not negative.
I mean I can cite a number of other consulates that are way slower.
Please see my timeline

However like you, I too have visited a number of countries and have lived long in the US as an India citizen.
Keeping my fingers crossed that things dont unduly slow down from now on!!
The best to you and all other patiently waiting applicants!!!
