BUFFALO APPLICANTS - File transferred to other VO due to Buffalo closing down

HELLO ALL-Please I need your kind advice.
We APPLIED FOR FSW1 IN March 2011 and got PER in April. And ever since no news apart from the fact that application was transferred from Buffalo to CCP-OTTAWA. Now, we are planning to apply for CEC.As a matter of fact, we have everything ready to go except for police clearance from our home country that will be arriving in the next one week. We planned to send the CEC APPLICATION off by 27th of this month so it can arrive at CIO by 2nd or 3rd of January 2012.

The problem now is that considering the fact that our FSW APPLICATION submitted in March 2011 is now in CPP-Ottawa and the fact that FSW application for 2013 has been postponed till May 2013,giving CIC more time to clear the files on ground, we are of the opinion that we might hear something regarding our march 2011 FSW application in the course of the year in 2013.
Pls everyone here, kindly advise us, should we go ahead and submit the CEC APPLICATION in January 2013 or should we just wait and see if we would hear anything in 2013 regarding our march 2011 fsw application currently with cpp ottawa?

Though, we are currently on an employer restricted work permit that will expire in 2015.We would have love to submit the CEC application, but the problem is that if we received processing update from CIC regarding (e.g. medical request etc.) our march 2011 fsw application in 2013 then, the $1100 application fee that we would pay for the CEC WILL BE A WASTE as CIC won't refund us the moment CIO processes our CEC application around FEB/MARCH 2015.
I know that this forum is filled with many brilliant people and that is why i came here to seek your advice. Should we just go ahead with the SUBMISSON OF THE CEC APPLICATION comes January 2013 or should we just hold on for now, as there is 70% probability of CIC attending to FSW applications submitted last year by early next year.

and what happens if he gets a new job ?

I have the same question... Did you receive points for having a permanent job offer in Quebec? Because I think if this is the case, then it might affect the PR.

My life really is screwed right now because my PR is tied to my current job, which makes me crazier every single day. There are so many opportunities for me elsewhere that I'm letting go of because of this stupid wait. I often feel like I'm wasting a good part of my youth in this dead end, mindless job when I could be doing what I love and pursuing what truly makes me happy. I am on the verge of just withdrawing my application and applying for CEC instead...

It depends on your situation and you need to answer these questions to yourself.

- Is work permit valid enough to last till your get PPR?
- Do you think you will get PPR for FSW earlier than the entire CEC process if you apply for CEC in January?
- $1100 you are going to spend for CEC, are they losing worth it?

I dont know the timelines for FSW to be quite honest but with Ottawa now focussing or 2011 applicants they are issuing PPR at regular intervals. In the end it is your personal decision based on your personal circumstances and in the end is it worth waiting for a few months and hopefully get ppr through FSW vs applying CEC?

Thanks so much for your reply.please are you sure Ottawa has started attending to 2011 FSW application?I really need to know this please.We submitted our FSW application in march 2011 and it got transfered to Otawa in july 2012.Do you think we can hear something in 2013 even if the whole process is not finalized.Our work permit spans till early 2015.
And we dont want to throw $1100 into the air just like that.If you can proof the fact that Ottawa is now focussing on 2011 application that will be great if you dont mind.We've already started to spend money,(wrote new IELTS,SENT MONEY FOR PC BACK HOME and so on)that if we are sure Ottawa has now desended on 2011 fsw applications we might have a rethink about submitting the CEC as we dont have much money to waste further

Hi Revival,

What is your source when you're saying CIC will stop processing 2013 applications to take care of the 2011 backlog? Also, where did you get the 70%?

I'm not trying to challenge you or anything like that, just curious to see if there's credible sources for those claims or just speculation/rumors.

Firstly,i never mentioned that cic will stop processing 2013 application.What i stated was that CIC has postponed their acceptance of FSW APPLICATIONS for 2013 that was formally scheduled to resume in january 2013 till may 4 2013. Secondly, i got the 70% probability becos i red from an article published on one of the newpapers in canada of one the CIC official that was interviewed.The cic official works in CPP-OTTAWA and said one of their priority is to drastically reduce the fsw applications transfered to cpp ottawa from buffalo by first half of 2013.

As a matter of fact,someone from one of the forum here on canadavisa posted the same article i am talking about. i will look out for it and post it here.

(now back to your question) If I were you, I wouldn't spend the time and money to apply to a second category, unless getting a PR one month earlier or so would make a big change in my life.

I do not know if I got points for that. mostly yes. But I heard people saying that they left country after applying QSW and they got PR.

and also heard that status needs to maintain till you get PR.
my situation is same as yours, neither I can work nor leave the job due to this never ending process.
Please try to find answers and let me know. I will do the same.

1- I dont know , but If you have the CSQ it done for your part at quebec , cause it considered like the canadian experience class so just to have some experience in quebec like 1-2 years

2- in my case after getting csq and have pr application in process , I could apply for a new employer as the cic says, and in this case the work should not be a qualified work just any work

I have CSQ and almost staying in Montreal from the past 3 years. I just wanted to change my job as the current one is not so useful my carrier and monetary wise.

It actually depends totally on you guys and If i were you i should consider following scenarios:

1. How fast you want your PR.
2. Will you guys be thinking of changing employer until you get your PR.
3. If you are willing to spend approx. $1100 more.
4. What stage your current application is in now, if it is still in eligibility state (or initial stage) then go for CEC.

In your current situation, if i were you. I would have initiated CEC application because it will give you following advantages:

1. Processing will most likely be completed with in one year.
2. You will be free of permit extensions headaches sooner that means you can switch your employer.

Since you haven't done your medical, i would have gone for it but again i may not know your situation 100%. By the way you can continue two application simultaneously but by certain stage CIC will ask you which application you want to continue. Also i have seen cases in which medical of one application is considered in another application, if you want to continue with later application only.

I've read that IT CAN take up to 4-6 weeks, but mostly its done within 2 weeks. Anyway, just contact them and ask.
