Hello friends,

I've been confused for a while now regarding what course to take as I've completed a B.Com. in Fin/Acctg from India and also M.Com. in Mgmt... I've applied to the University of Windsor's Master of Mgmt in Intl. Acctg and Finance so far but it has two disadvantages:

1) It may not have co-op
2) It's not accredited for fast-track CGA as per http://www.cga-ontario.org/Accredited_Programs.aspx

So I'm considering to apply to some other programs as well, and the only Masters degree in Ontario which is CGA-accredited as per above website is Brock University's Master of Accountancy http://brocku.ca/business/future/graduate/maccdegrees/macc

So does anyone have any ideas about this uni and the program? Would it be a better choice than UoW?

P.S. They also have another program called Intl. Master of Accountancy http://www.brocku.ca/business/future/graduate/maccdegrees/imacc Should I be taking this instead, as I'm from India? But I'm scared it may not be CGA-accredited as per above link? Or maybe it is. No idea.

Brock University does not a good reputation EXCEPT for its accounting program. Its bachelors in Accounting is one of the best in Ontario for those who want to get a job straight after graduation due to its mandatory co-op and extensive links in the industry. It's MBA program should be similar.
Trust me, i am not lying. I am working right now in MNP as a summer intern and recently they concluded their recruitment drive from Brock.

That's great news for me then I guess?

I'm just not sure if their IMAcc would be considered CGA-Ontario accredited.

I currently attend Brock, although I'm in the sciences so I can't give you any specific advice about it's accounting program.

Brock recently opened its Goodman School of Business which is helping its reputation. Brock is mostly known for its business and accounting programs already, but also for its education program (if you want to become a teacher).

Anyway, I would suggest choosing Brock. I've been to U of Windsor a few times and didn't enjoy it. St. Catharines is a lot nicer than Windsor, and the Brock campus is also nicer in my opinion. Windsor is also in a poor location compared to St. Catharines if you want to travel to popular cities in Ontario like Toronto.

You can find this information by googling it. Like I said, I don't know any specifics about the accounting program (or any program that's in the business department). Sorry.

CGA is now old school my friend. New Canadian CPA is the way to go.
