FACT:
- Former Filipino, Naturalized British, Woking in UK for 11 years as Assistant Manager in Fastfood.
- Visited Canada 2 times (Summer 2012 and Fall 2013) for 15 days each to visit my sister in Vancouver.

SITUATION:
On my 2 recent visit in BC, i really love it and since then ive been looking for companies who participate in LMO process. Sent millions of emails to add posted and some recruitment agency, and for nearly 2 years I am not successful.

Now I am thinking of going there and stay for 6 months (given time for visa exempt citizen) and look for employers who have open LMO in BC and Alberta area. I will be staying with my sister in while im in vancouver and i have lots of friends to stay when im in Alberta.

QUESTION:
- is there really an open LMO for tourist? And if I am successful with job applications and given LMO do I need to come back to the UK to process the Work permit?
- will the officer be tight on me when I have a return ticket for 6 months?
- How much will my travel money should be?

Im targeting fall season to arrive in Canada. Any information will be a great help to me as this things all bothering my mind. Many thanks in advance.

You want to be VERY careful about trying to enter canada strictly to find work, especially if you do not have a work permit. This is major cause for denying entry, and they are likely to issue you an exclusion order, which means you can't go back for a year. Getting a work permit is one of the hardest ways to get into canada. Depending on your age, you may qualify for a working holiday or canadian work experience. The CIC website has information about these programs. There are limited applications/approvals available, and time limits for applications to be sent in.

Remember border agents have the right to search everything you bring with you, including your phone and computer, so if they see proof of your intention to work without a visa, or even look for work, they will not be happy. I am not sure how to find companies that have open LMOs. I am sure it is very limited and are for professions in the science/medical field. These are the most desired occupations for foreign workers.

You will definitely need a return ticket. If they don't see you have one, they will be suspicious of your intentions, and believe you are misrepresenting yourself. Also, just because you want to stay for 6 mo, doesn't mean they will issue you a pass for 6 mo. It is solely on the discretion of the border agent you encounter that day.
