Hi all,

My great grandmother was born in Canada, and emigrated to England. My grandmother was born in 1943, in England (and never took up Canadian citizenship), and my father was born in 1966 (and similarly, did not take up Canadian citizenship.)

I was born in 1996 and am interested in Canadian citizenship by descent if that is possible.

If my grandmother is eligible (which I think she as having read the citizenship website) and successfully applies, can my father than do the same, and then can I apply for citizenship?

I'm assuming the answer is no, but just interested and would like someone more knowledgable to confirm the answer!

Many thanks in advance!

Based on the information you've provided, your grandmother would qualify for citizenship by descent. Your father does not. You certainly would not - you're too far removed (too many generations) from the relative born in Canada.

If you're interested in temporarly working and living in Canada for a year or two - I'd recommend you look into the IEC/Working Holiday Visa program.
