Do I need an ETA document?

I am going on vacation to Mexico on Tuesday. I got my PR in July and have my PR card. I am British. Do i need an ETA or no?

Confused!

Thanks!

No. ETA is for visitors. Your previous ETA was cancelled when you became a PR and you no longer need it. Make sure you have your PR card with you when traveling.

I have never had an ETA.

I definitely dont need one? When i go through the steps on CIC website i feel like it is saying i do?

Well then thats that! Doesn't get much more straight forward than that page!

Thank you @np08 !

Weegie - I promise you, you do not need an ETA as you are now PR, in fact you can't get an ETA if you answer the questions correctly coz you are a Canadian PR. My wife's original ETA was cancelled when the PR Card was issued and she has since travelled to UK, Mexico and US by air without an ETA (but you must of course carry your PR Card).

What is an Electronic Travel Authorization?
An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air.

Who needs an eTA to travel to Canada?
There are four types of travellers:
  1. Travellers who need an eTA:
    • Visa-exempt foreign nationals need an eTA to fly to or transit through a Canadian airport. These travellers do not need an eTA when arriving by car, bus, train or boat (including a cruise ship).
    • Lawful permanent residents of the U.S. need an eTA to fly to or transit through a Canadian airport. They must present a valid Green Card and a valid passport at check-in.
  2. Travellers who may be eligible to apply for an eTA:
    • Citizens from select visa-required countries may be eligible to apply for an eTA, instead of a visa, to travel to Canada by air. However, these travellers need a visitor visa when arriving by car, bus, train, or boat, including a cruise ship.
  3. Travellers who cannot apply for an eTA and need to carry other identification:
