Hi there, I have found a young lady, Zimbabwean, living and working in South Africa with a temporary work permit, and would like to bring her here as a live in caregiver. I have an agency helping, and our ad is currently posted on HRDC job bank. The prospective nanny has sent in her finger prints and police clearance for South Africa, and will be doing the same for Zimbabwe this week. She has over 2 years nanny experience...I've received excellent references from her employers, her english is excellent (written and spoken). The only concern I have is regarding her level of education. She has received her GCE (general certificate of eduction) in Zimbabwe. Ive googled everything under the sun, trying to figure out if this is equivalent to a complete Canadian high school education, and it very well appears to be. She completed her O levels. Colleges in Canada will admit foreign students with this certification, and students in Zimbabwe can continue on to vocational studies, or teaching or nursing with this GCE. Does anybody know for sure if it will be recognized by Immigration officers in Pretoria as being equal to a Canadian high school education? This young lady really clicks with our family, and I dont want to waste not only my time, but hers as well. Your answers are very welcome. Thanks in advance for replies.

I believe she completed her GCE in 11 years. However, I was thinking it may be equivalent to what we would cover in 12 years here in Canada as Canadian colleges will accept it as an entrance requirement. She went on to do a call centre course and earned a certificate, a one month nanny course, and is currently working on an accounting diploma while working full time as a nanny.
