Hi, I am hoping someone can help on here, as I've exhausted so many information sources.
When my husband from Ghana gets PPR we are going to bring our two cats and dog from Ghana to Canada. Unfortunately, there is no direct route from Ghana to Canada, and we have to fly through either Amsterdam of Brussels. I know what Canada's health requirements are for bringing animals in and what the EU's are, however, if the animals are not actually leaving the airport and are just on a layover in the EU, do they need to have EU requirements? Canada and the EU require rabies and a health certificate, but the EU also wants a microchip identification, Canada does not. I know it's not a huge difference, but it is a major expense for three animals just for a layover.
Can anyone comment if they have flown an animal from outside the EU into the EU for just a short layover (2-4 hours is how long ours would be) on their way to Canada, and what the requirements were?
THANK YOU!
