Hello everyone, I'm new here and really not very fat.
I am trying to find answers about bringing my GF from Colombia.
I am a Canadian citizen and about to get married to a Colombian. She currently lives and works in Panama City. She has once applied for a visitor's visa but was denied, although I have provided everything my lawyer said can help.
Now we want to get married, and have her moved here. Any idea how long the paperwork takes? Can we get married in Panama or we have to get married in Colombia? How do you do a PreNap agreement if you are to marry a non Canadian outside of Canada? Lot of questions I know, some help would be much appreciated though. Thank you so much in adavance.

Regarding the paperwork, it depends on which application method you choose, and how good an application package you put together.

The inland method is meant for the married couple to both be in Canada for the entire duration of the application process, but it can easily, and most likely take well over a year or two for final approval.

The outside method is meant for married couples where the applicant is still living outside of Canada (but you can both be in Canada), and is done in a matter of months as opposed to years. How long it takes depends on which visa office is assigned your case.

The rest about prenups and whatnot I have no clue.

fathungarian,
you're funny! :)
If you've already been talking to a lawyer about some of the trickier issues with how to proceed with your case, they might be the best person to get some quick and legally correct answers to your other questions. Lawyers aren't all bad, the lawyer I dealt with to get my application all in order with everything correct before I sent it in, was very helpful and if I had a few leftover questions that took a few minutes of her time, never charged me.

What is the "outside" method you guys are referring to?
-I guess it means applying by yourself.

Using a lawyer is totally your choice. Check the following link from CIC. It discusses in this regard.
