Hey all,

I am Brazilian and I have to translate both my brazilian police certificate and my B.A. Diploma, from Portuguese to English. From the CIC website one of the requirements is that these translations should also include an affidavit from the person who completed it.

I was wondering from the other Brazilians not living in Brazil at the moment, how did you do this and how much it usually cost for you? I am in the UK, and the company I have found is asking £105 pounds per thousands words, plus £65 to bring a commissioner of oaths in, to certify it. This is looking too expensive. Is this correct?

Does the commissioner of oaths generates ANOTHER document, to prove the veracity of it, or does it only signs over the translated version of it? I think what I want to understand is if at the end of the day I will have two or three different documents for the same thing? i.e.: Original Police Certificate in Portuguese, translation of the police certificate in English, and a new document affidavit from the commissioner of oaths?

Thanks for your time,
-Matheus
