Boyfriend visiting then we’re traveling

I’m Canadian, my boyfriend is American. He plans on coming to see me in January, then we are planning a trip to go to Japan in April/May. Will this be an issue? Will they let him leave from Canada and will they let him come back into Canada from Japan? Thank you!

By American you mean a USA citizen? I'll assume so.

Yes, he would have no concerns regarding travelling. He needs an ETA though, so be sure to apply for one.
