Hi,
First time on this forum, hope some folks can provide some advice or even just ease my mind a bit.
My boyfriend (20) from Brazil is coming to visit me at the end of December. He already has a multi-visit visitor visa and he has come to Canada once before for a one month visit on that visa (last January) to visit his sister who lives in Canada. He is unemployed but is a full time student and I will be supporting him financially while he is in Canada. He's staying with me.
He will visit for 2 months, after which time he will go back to Brazil to resume his school. However, while he is here he will receive the results of a university entrance exam he wrote a while back. If the results are good then he can attend a different school in Brazil, in which case he wouldn't start classes until July, so he would stay an extra 3 months. This is because he wants to change academic programs. If the results are poor we are also considering having him apply to attend a Canadian university in my city (that part is unrelated to the trip as we would do that even if he was in Brazil... also before he studied he would of course apply for a student visa, and classes wouldn't start until September, so he would probably go back to Brazil for the summer).
As of today he has booked a flight here and a return flight 5 months apart because we are optimistic that his test results will be good. If they are poor results we will reschedule the flight to leave sooner. But now I'm starting to worry that when he arrives to Canada they might think it's too long of a visit and deny him entry, even though he has a visa. I wrote him an invitation letter to hand the officer in case they ask when he arrives and also in the letter is my proof of Canadian citizenship and paystub and proof of savings.
What else can I do to make sure he will be allowed entry into Canada? Or am I worrying about nothing since he already has the visa? Should I change the flight to be for the 2 month trip instead of the 5 month trip? Should we mention about the possibility of applying to a Canadian university in the letter or will that just complicate things?
Thanks for the help.
