Hey Everyone..!

I am a August 2014, PR applicant under CEC. My work permit is getting expired in Feb 2016. So I am planning to apply for BOWP in Oct 2015 if if I dont get any reply after AOR from CIC by then. So I am just making myself updated and preparing for BOWP.
I was reading through the procedure of BOWP in CIC and there in the Eligibility Criteria they says the following,

Bridging work permit: eligibility parameters
To be eligible for a bridging work permit, foreign nationals must meet the following requirements:

they have applied for an open work permit; and
they have paid the work permit processing fee and the Open Work Permit Holder fee.

So what are these two?? Do I have to apply for WP???? before applying BOWP..!!! under which category..!!!!

And also I have my spouse here in Canada with me on my dependence. I've added my spouse to my PR file too. I found the following on CIC site. What does it mean?? I couldnt understand..!!

Spouse or common‑law partner and dependants
For spouses or common-law partners of CEC applicants, there are no set preconditions to be met by the principal CEC applicant.

Thanks..!!

If it expires in Feb 2016.. i would assume your case should be closed out by then for sure.
Best is to apply 1 -2 mths before it expires.

Yes, the language IS confusing if you are an applicant; but remember, these are the instructions to the VOs, not to applicants.

Unfortunately, when you complete the application, you will see that there is no checkbox or category for "Bridging Open work Permit." This only means that when you complete the application for the BOWP, you have to select "open work permit" as the type of permit you are applying for. As for the fees, there is the fee for the open work permit that existed before, plus the new Open Work Permit Holder fee

If you look at the other classes of applicants, there are preconditions for all the other classes for the spouse open work permit; CEC class has no extra conditions.

Hi All,

I have a similar situation but since I'm a single mother I have a minor-age dependent with Student Visa.

Thus, I'm have doubts .. How should I proceed?
I saw some pages that while my WP is validated, my son should not renew his student VISA. He is in grade 10 (High School).

I know that during the quiz for BOWP, it should have a question about dependents.. how should I answer since I don't need OWP for my child?

Thanks in advance for your help , time and support.
