This is a tough cookie! Since you have not received your AOR, the chances are 50, 50! All you can do now is to fill in the forms and send them over with an explanation letter.

If the officer sees your AOR in their system, they will hopefully issue you a BOWP. If not, it will be rejected and you will go out of status. Probably they will give you 90 days to gain your status back. Meanwhile you will go under implied status till they come up with a decision on your BOWP. (This depends on what kind of work permit you are holding, if it's a post graduate work permit then implied status works if it's a holiday work permit then implied status does not apply to you).

You can even file in a work permit extension, but since you do not have any LMO. It will be rejected for sure.

Remember my info is very limited. Please, oh please do not rely on it. Best thing you can do is to call a lawyer and see what they have to say about this.

Seniors, please share your inputs on this.

Best of luck mate,

^ There is no "90 days to get your status back", at least not with a BOWP - this has to be applied for before your current work permit ends. So you should do your best to make sure the first application isn't refused.

And the part about not getting implied status if you go from a working holiday to a BOWP, lol, I can't be bothered arguing this anymore, but I did exactly this and survived.

You don't have to "lol" when you are sharing your information. I have no idea how the holiday work permit works and some people say implied status does not apply to some work permits!

And what do you mean when you say there is no 90 days grace period? This happened to me and I was given those 90 days, and here is the link: http://bit.ly/1v9pSqM
When you get rejected, they will give you 90 days to resolve your issue and restore your status because essentially your permit has expired!

Thanks for the info,

^ Fair enough. Yes some people do indeed say that. Too many.

As for the 90 days - I should clarify. In general, yes there is a 90 day restoration period, but the conditions of the BOWP specifically exclude this: "foreign nationals who have let their status expire and must apply for restoration in order to return to temporary resident status" do not qualify (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/work/prov/bridging.asp).

If you applied for your BOWP during restoration and successfully got it, this is actually pretty useful information for the group.

Just to clear the fog here, I never got a BOWP. I never qualified for one! But I got a 90 days grace period after the extension of my work permit was refused! And within those 90 days I got a visitor permit (6 months) till my CEC application got through.

About the letter, it's best if you get help from someone you know close to you, so you can exactly explain the situation orally and in person.

Best of luck,
