Hi All,

My PGWP expires this 31st of this month, although my visa says I must exit Canada by the 27th. I was hoping my PR would come through, but alas, inland CEC might take the full six months (or more).
I'll be applying for my BOWP this week and have a few questions if you'll oblige me.

1. What's the turnaround time on these BOWP?
2. In lieu of confirmation/denial post applying, does my current working status change?
3. In lieu of confirmation/denial post applying, must I leave Canada? If so, does this not jeopardize my chance of implied status?

Thanks for your time and I hope the best for the rest of you.

Hi, my case is a little similar to yours. I applied for my BOWP on April 10 and as of today my application is still 'In Progress'. My WP expires on 26 June. My passport stamp says I should leave Canada by 26 June.

Answer to your questions:
1) Turnaround time varies. One person on the his forum got their BOWP in 6 days while others have had to wait between 1-2 months.

2) I spoke to IRCC and the call centre representative told me that I will be on 'Implied status' if I have not received a response between the day my WP expires and the date my application is processed. On 'Implied Status' you can keep working until they make a decision on your BOWP.

3) I don't think you have to leave Canada after applying.
