BOWP - dependent on PR status?

Hello,

So as far as I know, one is eligible for BOWP when AOR is received and the BOWP is valid for one year. Quick question, anyone knows what will happen if the PR application gets rejected before the expiration date of the work permit? Is the person still eligible to stay in Canada then?
