I applied via mail to increase the chances that the AOR would be issued before the BOWP application was processed.
I sent this cover letter with the application:
Application for Open Work Permit
I am a XXXX Citizen, currently living in Canada and employed full time under my work permit number U123456790, [Company Name], valid until [Date].
I have met all requirements to apply for Permanent Residency in Canada under the Canadian Experience Class program (CEC) and have submitted my completed PR application to you in October 2014, which was received by CIC on October 23rd 2014.
Due to the upcoming expiry of my current work permit, I hereby submit my application for a Bridging Open Work Permit, in accordance with OB485 “Bridging Open Work Permits for Certain Federal Economic Class Applicants”
At the date of this application for the BOWP, I have not yet received the Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) of my PR application. I anticipate this will be received within the next XX weeks depending on current processing times.
Therefore I kindly ask that at the time of processing my application for the BOWP, that you check my CEC application status and AOR under my Client ID number 912341234, or contact me to request a copy of the AOR.
It is my understanding that I am eligible to remain employed on “Implied Status”, under the same conditions and restrictions imposed by my current work permit while this application for a BOWP is being processed.
I appreciate your consideration and thank you for your efforts.
Sincerely,
Max Continuous
Other than that you don't need to send a lot of stuff, this application is pretty simple. The 5710E form, the IMM5556E checklist form, copy of your Passport, copy of your current Work Permit showing that it is valid at time of mailing the application, and payment receipt, and I think that's all. Instructions on how to fill out the BOWP application can be found somewhere on here, have a look in the big BOWP thread.
