BOWP Application for EE-PNP - Recieved OWP-EXT

I applied for a BOWP yesterday as I have a EE-PNP application in process. Even though my current work permit is set to expire early next year, with all the dramas and delays of processing, I wanted to get this in early just incase. Today, I received an letter in my GCKey that the OWP-EXT was approved, and the expiry date was August 30, 2023 (5 months before the original date on my current work permit)

I've raised a webform to ask what that means, but has anyone else been in this situation? Am I safe to just ignore the OWP-EXT date, and continue with my current work permit date?

Update: Got a hold of IRCC Phone Rep who said the Original Work Permit Expiry date is still valid. Only if my work permit was set to expire in the next few weeks would the "new" expiry date be valid.
