Hi guys,

I have a question regarding BOWP and TRV:
Do you have to apply separately for BOWP and TRV i.e. fill separate application, pay separately ($150 each time)...
When I applied for my closed WP a couple of years back, I had to pay only once ($150) for my TRV and my WP but that was outside of Canada. My current TRV is expiring in 3 months.
My BOWP timeline:
online application: June 6
mycic message of approval: July 4
BOWP validity: July 3, 2014

Thanks in advance!

You only need a valid TRV if you are planning to travel outside Canada. TRV is a travel document to get back in Canada.(Obviously you are from a non exempt country, correct me if I'm wrong) If you are not planning to go anywhere and have a valid BOWP you are allowed to stay in Canada until the expiry date of your permit. EVEN if the TRV is expired. (Of course hopefully get your PR before it expires, so you don't have to renew again.)

Now, if you are planning to make a trip out of Canada that is the time you need a TRV, and yes you need to pay for it separately. 75 for a single entry and 150 for multiple entry.
