Good morning everyone,

I have an issue that i am trying to get resolved/clarified:

I am in canada on a closed work permit.
It expires on November 1st
We filed Spousal Sponsorship and received AOR on Sept 8th.
I am American and my wife is Canadian
Along with the Spousal Sponsorship i sent in a OWP application so that we would qualify for implied status hopefully allowing me to continue to work till i get owp after phase 2.
This is an inland sponsorship

I sent our hr dept all of our information etc.

I asked them what else do u require for me to continue to work till i get owp.

Hr rep called CIC and talked to someone and they told her that only way i can keep working is if i apply for a BOWP so that there are no gaps in my employment.

I am very confused at this point because i was under the impression that i would be under implied status and would be able to keep working on my current work permit even though it will have expired as long as i keep working under those stipulations till i get my owp once it is approved after phase 1 .

Can anyone clarify what it is i am missing?

I looked at the BOWP information and other things and BOWP is about the economic classes etc etc.....and i feel that maybe just maybe our HR dept has bad information or i could be wrong and have little time to go and quickly submit a bowp before my expiry date.

Please help.....this is important that i cant afford to be wrong and i cannot afford having them wrong.

Thanks so much,

stressed and irritated and confused.

You don't qualify for a BOWP. As you've found, this is only for individuals who have applied to immigrate through an economic class.

Since your American, withdraw your inland application and apply outland. If you go outland, you could be completely done in as little as four month. I know this means you won't be able to continue working. It's still the better route. You'll end up hating life if you stick with the inland process.
